Brilliant Light Power, Inc. (BLP) has developed a new, zero-pollution, primary energy source based on a proprietary hydrogen plasma reaction that releases 200 times the energy of burning hydrogen that can be obtained from water. Our SunCell® having a capital cost of less than 1/10th that of solar was invented and engineered to harness this new source of power. Specifically, BLP is operating a SunCell® at commercial scale (250 kW) producing power levels that, upon finalization of engineering and design, can power essentially all power applications with no fuels or grid connection, projected $20/kW cap cost, $0.001 kW/h generation cost with no transmission, distribution, or demand charges, no supply chain issues, and zero pollution including CO2. Our global and significant patent portfolio protects our leading technology position and products.
The SunCell® comprises a plasma cell that injects hydrogen and catalyst, and two electromagnetic pumps serve as electrodes by injecting intersecting molten tin streams from corresponding reservoirs wherein the connected streams carry a low voltage, high current to form a Hydrino®-reaction plasma in a reaction chamber. The SunCell® is an optical power source having a dynamic-transparency plasma window. Optical power or radiation transfers power at 10 to 100 times the power per area compared to conduction and convection of combustion and nuclear power plants. The optical power source is mated with a commercial dense receiver array (DRA) comprising an ensemble of concentrator photovoltaics cells (CPV) that operate at 1000 times the light intensity of solar-farm PV cells to produce electrical power for total electrification of essentially all power loads.

COMMERCIAL SUNCELL® INITIAL SHAKEDOWN
We have added a few more engineering advancements to our commercial SunCell® prototype that achieves ignition on demand. The goal of transferring the extraordinarily high power optically has been achieved. Even at a distance the optical and thermal power experienced are intense. The PV window cavity and high vacuum seal function flawlessly, as does other innovations in this design. We are taking initial power meter and spectroscopy measurements that we plan to share with select corporations. With strategic alliances we anticipate that lease customers will have their own Sun in a bottle with more power available than one can use.
SUNCELL® POWER AND ENGINEERING
Optical power or radiation transfers power at 100 times the power per area compared to conduction and convection of combustion and nuclear power plants. The 5600K SunCell® plasma shown in our March 30th post emits radiation at a power density of 56 MW/m2. Ray-trace modeling shows that the SunCell will heat to a very practical maximum temperature and radiate 100% of power directly or indirectly thereafter through a transparent chamber comprising 75% of the area of the standard spherical emission surface of a point-like blackbody radiator with highly reflective surfaces comprising the balance of the area.
The current design comprises a commercial 8-inch-flanged viewport capable of operation to 300°C. Given the distance from the plasma, the 5-inch-diameter viewport aperture corresponds to about 1% of the emission area. Thus, the SunCell heats to failure at very high generated powers despite having refractory liners. Moreover, the maximum operating temperature of the viewport is exceeded. To solve the power transfer issue, Brilliant has developed a lightbulb type of design that has about 20 innovations over this current design including a new type of window chamber vacuum sealing technology that is not currently available commercially.
TPV-SUNCELL® RECTANGULOID CAVITY BLACKBODY RADIATOR
The visible-light concentrator thermophotovoltaic SunCell® (cTPV-SunCell®) shown in this photo comprises a plasma cell that injects hydrogen and catalyst, and two electromagnetic pumps serve as electrodes by injecting intersecting molten tin streams from corresponding reservoirs containing 10-12 kg of tin wherein the connected streams carry a low voltage, high current to form a Hydrino®-reaction plasma with an energy release of 200 times that of burning the hydrogen that can be obtained from water as a 0.5% parasitic load. The SunCell® is an optical power source that is mated with a commercial dense receiver array (DRA) comprising an ensemble of concentrator photovoltaics cells (CPV) that operate at 1000 times the light intensity of solar-farm PV cells to produce electrical power for total electrification of essentially all power loads.

With light recycling, the transmitted radiation incident a CPV DRA can be converted from optical to electrical power at over 50% efficiency enabling extraordinary performance, logistics, low capital cost, and projected electricity costs of less than $0.001/kWh.
A SunCell® having a rectanguloid reaction cell chamber allowed for ease of fabrication of thicker refractory reaction cell chamber liners comprising flat plates to allow the internal temperature to reach 3000K in regions. The refractory lined reaction cell chamber serves as a blackbody cavity that equilibrates to reach a uniform temperature to serve as a blackbody radiator of a controlled temperature selected to maximize the conversion efficiency of the DRA that exploits light recycling to produce electricity at high efficiency. The rectanguloid SunCell® was debuted in a live streaming demonstration on March 18th. Three runs are shown in the linked videos. The SunCell® was allowed to cool between runs. A larger PV window is undergoing bench tests to allow for the power radiated through the PV window to match that generated by the Hydrino reaction.

SUNCELL® RELIABILITY AND HIGH FREQUENCY SOUND

A new SunCell® was put into service on the former gallium boiler station, and it worked out of the shop demonstrating its reliability.
The SunCell® was run to its thermal failure limit. By using a larger plasma window to facilitate a balance between the power generated by the Hydrino reaction and the power radiated through the window, the duration is being extended to an indefinite one.
An interesting aspect of the SunCell® is that the Hydrino reaction initiated by constant DC current emits a high frequency sound. This is another example from Station 4 ran on February 16th.

TPV-SUNCELL® WINDOW PERFORMANCE COMPARISON

Modifications of the system for the maintenance of the transparency of the plasma window at the top of the SunCell® during operation were made over the last 60 days. Two videos are given below, one from the beginning of the program and another from the end, to provide a comparison of the results with and without the subsequent window-transparency developments.
A run of December 1 with poor window transparency performance resulted in melting of the tungsten nozzle on the right as indicted by (i) the deviated injected molten metal stream, (ii) melting of the 4-mm-thick tungsten plates of the refractory liner observed glowing in the video and missing on the left, and (iii) melting of portions of the fused silica window. The program innovations and engineering resulted in plasma window performance that was excellent as shown in the What’s New video of February 5. In this video, the matched refractory lined vessel and reservoirs heated to near the failure point of the stainless-steel outer skin in seconds while the nozzle and refractory liner maintained their initial condition.
A 3000-5000K plasma emits radiation at a power density of 4.6 to 35 MW/m2, corresponding to an extraordinary 150 kW to 1.14 MW, respectively, transmitted through an 8-inch diameter window. Exploiting the physics of radiative power transfer at 10 to 100 times the power per area compared to conduction and convection of conventional base-load power sources such as combustion-powered and nuclear-powered ones, plans are to increase the plasma window area to reach a balance of the Hydrino® reaction power generated in the reaction cell chamber with that radiated by the plasma and refractory liners at elevated temperature. The emission will be converted to electricity using a dense receiver array of concentrator photovoltaic cells. The electricity will be used to autonomously power all power applications without any pollution or green-house gas emission.

TPV-SUNCELL® TEST AT TWO STATIONS
The visible-light concentrator thermophotovoltaic SunCell® (cTPV-SunCell) comprises a plasma cell that injects hydrogen and catalyst, and two electromagnetic pumps serve as electrodes by injecting intersecting molten tin streams from corresponding reservoirs wherein the connected streams carry a low voltage, high current to form a Hydrino®-reaction plasma with an energy release of 200 times that of burning the hydrogen that can be obtained from water as a 0.5% parasitic load.
Rather than horizontal injection as shown in the What’s New December 19th Video, the injection is vertically inclined so that the injector nozzles can be positioned in the reservoirs away for the plasma zone. The elimination of direct plasma exposure prevents that tungsten nozzles from overheating and melting. Notice, the glowing injector nozzles of the December 19th video wherein melting of the tungsten injectors occurs in seconds unless the reaction power is decreased, or the radiative power transfer increased. Radiation transfers power at 10 to 100 times the power per area compared to conduction and convection of conventional base-load power sources such as combustion-powered and nuclear-powered ones. The 3000-5000K plasma emits radiation at a power density of 4.6 to 35 MW/m2, corresponding to an extraordinary 150 kW to 1.14 MW, respectively, transmitted through an 8-inch diameter window. The TPV-SunCell electricity can be used to power essentially all stationary electric and motive applications at about $0.001/kWh. It can also used as a heat lamp heater to power boilers to produce steam, power an air heat exchanger to produce heated air, and power commercial and industrial ovens and furnaces.
